Description
This mid 19th century US Military History photo features a group of twenty African American soldiers who formed the band of 107th US Colored Infantry with musical instruments in Arlington, Virginia. The 107th Regiment Infantry was first organized in Louisville, Kentucky, and participated in the siege of Petersburg, first two expeditions to Fort Fisher, capture of Wilmington, occupation of Raleigh, surrender of Johnston, and several other smaller battles wherein the soldiers displayed courage under fire and won glory on the battlefield.
