Description
This early 20th century Australian History photo features the Climax locomotive, the first geared engine imported to Australia and produced by Climax Manufacturing Company of Corry, Pennsylvania, crossing a low wooden bridge of the Canungra Pine Creek Tramway. It was the first steam locomotive to operate on the Canungra Pine Creek line, and commenced on September 1, 1903, when It arrived from the US in 1900. The Class B Climax engine had been invented by Charles Darwin Scott.
