Description
This early 20th century US Trading History print features the grain elevators along the Chicago River which were introduced sometime during the mid 19th century to enable farmers to shift their produce from the farmland to the docks and the marketplace. Dotting the docks, these grain elevators are some of the largest in the world wherein the farmers would load their sacks and the buyers could select and directly unload them onto a vessel of their choice.
