Description
This early 20th century Native American history photo features Chief Wolf Robe, the Southern Cheyenne chief, whose profile graced the Indian-head nickel, photographed during the Louisiana Purchase Exposition held at St. Louis, Missouri, by the Gerhard Sisters. He is depicted as wearing a round silver Benjamin Harrison peace medal, which he received from the federal government in 1890 for assisting the Cherokee Commission over the land-disposal negotiations.
