This mid 20th century US MIning History photo features miners after the completion of morning shift at the Koppers Coal Division, Wyoming County, West Virginia. In 1937, Koppers Coal Company leased 10,000 acres spread across Wyoming and Boone counties and at the time was one of the largest in West Virginia with extensive operations in both Raleigh and Fayette counties, complete with schools, churches, ballfields, sidewalks, and an art-deco company store.
