Description
This late 19th century Roman History print features the Coliseum at Rome, which is also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, owing to having been constructed by the monarchs of the Flavian Dynasty. As the largest amphitheatre of its time that had a seating capacity of 50,000 spectators, it served as a stage for gladiatorial contests, animal hunts, dramas and executions.
