Description
This late 19th century US History print features the Detroit Museum of Art, which opened its doors to the public on September 1, 1888, and was located in Jefferson, a picturesque residential neighborhood lined with elms at the time. Subsequent to the opening of the Detroit Institute of Art, the Detroit Museum of Art lost its treasures and was eventually demolished in 1960 to make way for the Hastings Expressway, which is currently a part of Interstate 75.
