This late 19th century US History photo features Frances Willard, a noted American suffragist who played a seminal role in the women’s suffrage movement and also founded the World's Woman's Christian Temperance Union that promoted Christian socialism and women’s rights. Named Frances Elizabeth Caroline Willard, she also founded the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs as part of the Progressive Movement.
