Description
This mid 19th century US History photo features Frederick Douglass, who was born into slavery and escaped to evolve into the father of civil rights movement, a well-known social reformer and an activist for women’s rights. As a consultant to President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War, Douglass convinced him to allow slaves to join the Union Forces and ensured that the war brought to an end the centuries old tradition of slavery.
