This mid 19th century US History photo features General Grant Jr, who appeared in the Barnum Museum as the smallest living man at the time, at 13 years of age, with a height of 23 inches and weight of 18-and-a-half pounds. Christened as Edmund Newell, he hailed from Chicago, and rose to fame courtesy of PT Barnum’s concept of showcasing oddities.
