This mid 19th century US Political History print features George M. Dallas, an American politician and diplomat, who served as the Mayor of Philadelphia in 1828, and henceforth as the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Attorney General, and the 11th US Vice-President. Being a staunch supporter of expansion and the concept of popular sovereignty, George Dallas strongly advocated the annexation of Mexico during the Mexican-American War.
