Description
This early 20th century US Presidential History photo features The Mansion at Mount Vernon, which George Washington’s father, Augustine Washington, had built as a modest one and a half story house on the plantation in 1734. Eventually, George Washington, the first US President, and his wife, Martha Washington lived on the estate, which is situated on the banks of the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Alexandria and across from Prince George's County, Maryland.
