This early 20th century US History photo features Harriet Tubman, who was born into slavery and went on to become a renowned abolitionist and political activist. She is most well-known for escaping slavery and subsequently carrying out at least 13 rescue missions with assistance from anti-slavery activists and safe houses, wherein she managed to rescue approximately 70 slaves among family and friends.
