Description
This mid 19th century US History photo features Harriet Tubman in her midlife. She was born Araminta Ross, but later adopted the name Harriet from her mother, Harriet Ross, the surname Tubman being that of her first husband, John Tubman. One of her famous quotes pertaining to rescuing slaves through the underground railroads was - "I was conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what most conductors can't say – I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger."
