Description
This mid 19th century Japanese History photo features two Japanese women in traditional Kimono holding a large parasol. A Japanese parasol differs from an umbrella in terms of size and purpose, wherein parasols are smaller and lighter than umbrellas, are used only to shade people from the sun and tend to be made from fabric that may or may not be waterproof.
