This mid 20th century US Presidential History photo features Jimmy Carter, 39th US President, speaking at a Brooklyn College campaign stop in New York. During the 1976 Presidential Campaign, Carter's stated positions included public financing of congressional campaigns, support for the creation of a federal consumer protection agency, creating a separate department for education, signing a peace treaty with the Soviet Union against the usage of nuclear weapons, reducing the defense budget and making multiple amendments to the Social Security Act.
