Description
This mid 20th century British Military History print features the Aldwych tube-station when, in 1940, it was one among the seventy-nine tube stations that were converted into a shelter for citizens during the air-raid. Shortly after the Blitz started, the tunnels between Aldwych and Holborn were fitted out by the City of Westminster to serve as an air-raid shelter and storage space for museum artifacts.
