Description
This late 19th century German Architectural History photo features Neuschwanstein, a castle in southwest Bavaria, Germany, which was commissioned by Ludwig II as a retreat to honor Richard Wagner. Located on a hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen, the castle is a typical example of Romanesque Revival architecture that was evident in German palaces during the 19th century.
