Description
This mid 19th century US Transportation History photo features people posing on a locomotive plying on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, near Oakland, Maryland. Commonly referred to as the B&O Railroad, much of its development is attributed to John W. Garrett, who as president ensured rapid growth and also constructed the B&O Railroad station in Oakland, which has been acknowledged as an architectural beauty.
