Description
This mid 19th century US Transportation History print features ‘Issac Newton’, a steamboat which plied on the Hudson River, serving as a preferred means of travel for both passengers and cargo. Developed by Robert Fulton at the beginning of the 19th century, these steamboats differed from their Mississippi River counterparts because they were driven by two centrally located paddle-wheels, and hence were known as sidewheel steamers.
