Artist's Description

Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States of America, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, and one of the most influential Founding Fathers. President Jefferson oversaw the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the escalation of events leading to the War of 1812 during his administration. He died the same day as John Adams, his chief political rival, on July 4, 1826.
