Description
This early 20th century US Social History photo features one of the several Woman Suffrage Pickets positioned around the White House reading “To ask freedom for women is not a crime - Suffrage prisoners should not be treated as criminals”. The protests were set up in an effort to pressure President Woodrow Wilson into supporting the proposed “Anthony amendment” to the US Constitution that would guarantee women the right to vote.
