This early 20th century US Military History photo features the victory parade after the First World War led by General John Pershing down Fifth Avenue, New York City. Crowds enthusiastically cheered the 25,000 US soldiers who had served in the American Expeditionary Force’s 1st Division on the Western Front when they marched from 107th Street to Washington Square in Greenwich Village, carrying trench helmets and sporting full combat gear. Photo taken on September 10, 1919.
