This mid 20th century US Transportation History photo features a locomotive in railroad yards along the Mississippi River in St. Louis, Missouri. Towards the end of the 19th century several railroad bridges overlooking the waterfront were built in St Louis, Missouri, the most popular of them being the Eads Bridge which became the city’s identity, and the riverfront railroad trestle that connected the downtown railroad yards with the main lines.
