Description
This late 19th century Russian History photo features the magnificent Peterhof Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, which was built by Czar Peter I on the banks of the Baltic Sea in the Gulf of Finland, and is referred to as the Russian Versailles. ‘Peterhof’ is a Dutch-German word that translates to "Peter's Court", and despite appearing narrow, it does look truly imposing from across the Lower or Upper Gardens, and has approximately thirty rooms.
