This mid 19th century US Geographic History photo features the summit of the Uinta Mountain Cliffs, the east-west trending subrange of the Rocky Mountains that lie east of Salt Lake City, Utah, with the Bear River flowing forth. The Uinta Mountain Range is flanked by several rivers, namely the Colorado River watershed, tributaries of the Green River - Blacks Fork and the Duchesne River, and tributaries of the Great Salt Lake - the Bear River and the Weber River.
