This mid 19th century US Political History photo features Schuyler Colfax, 17th US Vice President who served under President Ulysses S Grant, and is one of the only two people to have served as both Speaker of the House and Vice President; the other being John Nance Garner. Known for his opposition to slavery, he led the effort to pass what would become the Thirteenth Amendment that abolished slavery.
