This early 21st century US Political History photo features John Lewis, a member of the US House of Representatives who was a pioneer of the American civil rights movement and ranked among the original Freedom Riders who fought segregation on the US transportation system during the early 1960s. He was also the youngest and last survivor of the Big Six civil rights activists that was led by the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr, and is best known for having led the Bloody Sunday march of more than 600 protesters across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama.
